A dental implant is a titanium metal rod, which is placed in your jawbone. It is used to support a permanent ceramic crown which looks and functions like a completely natural tooth.

Implants need to integrate with the bone after they have been put in which may take approximately 4-6 months. In the meantime you may have to wear a temporary restoration.

At this practice we use Branemark and Replace implants by Nobel Biocare who have been the market leaders in manufacturing dental implants for over 50 years.

Implants are ideal for replacing single missing teeth, several missing teeth or for providing a fixed bridge on implants for people who have all their teeth missing.

  1. Single tooth missing
    • If one tooth is missing due to trauma, gum disease or failed root canal treatment, providing there is adequate thickness and depth of bone, a single titanium implant can be inserted into the space to restore a natural appearance. It is the most durable and aesthetically pleasing option for replacing a single tooth and will function and look just like a natural tooth.
  2. Several teeth missing
    • A. It is possible to replace multiple front teeth using implant retained bridges.
    • B. If several teeth are missing at the back of the mouth, a bridge anchored to dental implants is the only fixed alternative. This provides strength and stability allowing you to eat whatever you want.
  3. All teeth missing
    • In cases where full dentures are causing several problems, a fantastic treatment alternative exists. Now it is possible to replace a full jaw with dental implants and a fixed bridge or over-denture solution that results in a permanent, stable and aesthetic solution. This will let you eat what you want whilst preserving and enhancing facial appearance and preventing bone loss. Traditional dentures cannot offer the same stability or function.
