Preventative Dentistry

We provide a number of preventative dental services, including fluoride application, fissure sealants and mouthguards to protect your healthy teeth and minimise problems arising.

Fluoride Application

Topical fluoride application hardens the enamel on the outer surface of the tooth, making it more resistant to acid attack from dental plaque and reducing the risk of tooth decay forming.
It can also be used to help desensitise teeth which overreact to hot and cold stimuli.

Fissure Sealants

Fissure sealants are resin coatings bonded to the grooves on the surface of the larger chewing teeth at the back of the mouth. They form a physical barrier between the tooth and any dental plaque which forms, reducing the risk of decay forming.

Mouthguards

We are able to provide a range of custom made mouthguards for use when playing sports to protect the teeth, gums and jaws from any impact injuries. Mouthguards act as a shock absorber cushioning and spreading the force of the impact. As the device is custom made, it will fit perfectly, meaning better protection and more comfort when compared with an over-the-counter device.

A night guard can be used to give protection against tooth wear, as well as relieve the symptoms associated with bruxism, or clenching/grinding of the teeth. This involuntary habit can cause large stresses to be directed through the teeth, jaws and muscles resulting in tooth wear, fractures, pain in the teeth, jaws or face and clicking or popping from the jaw joint.
